Notice
A door hanger or written notice was left at your property by a Washington County Assessor field specialist. Failure to respond may result in an inaccurate assessment based on available data.
What is the Online Door Hanger
Indiana counties are required under IC 6-1.1-4 to periodically assess all real
property at its true tax value. As part of this process, the Washington County Assessor's Office conducts routine
field inspections to verify and update property information that directly affects your property's assessed value.
When a field data collection specialist visits your property and is unable to speak with the property owner, they
leave a physical door hanger requesting that you complete this survey. The
Online Door Hanger (ODH) allows you to conveniently submit
your interior property information, such as finished square footage, number of rooms, heating and cooling systems,
and recent improvements, from any device, at any time.
Once submitted, your information is reviewed by Assessor staff. If the data differs materially from the current
assessment record, corrections may be applied consistent with Indiana's Cost Approach valuation model.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why did the assessor visit my property?
Washington County is conducting its state-mandated reassessment cycle. Field specialists visit properties to verify
interior data on record. If a specialist was unable to speak with the property owner, you were left a door hanger.
What happens if I don't respond?
If we do not receive a response, the Assessor's office may be unable to verify property information. As a
result, your assessment may not accurately reflect your home's current characteristics.
It is important to complete the door hanger, even if you have not made any changes to your property. Responding
helps confirm that our records are accurate and allows us to correct any existing errors.
Will this change my property taxes?
Your response is used to verify or correct the data underlying your assessment. If the submitted information
differs significantly from the current record, an adjustment may be made, which could increase or decrease your
assessed value.
Is my information secure?
Yes. The online form is hosted on a secured, encrypted platform. Your property data is transmitted directly to
the Washington County Assessor's office and is not shared with third parties except as required by Indiana's Access
to Public Records Act (APRA).
What if I need help completing the form?
